For Schools WITH School Core Teams
(i.e. WITH Assigned Core Rehabilitation Therapists- SLP/OT)
Core Rehabilitation therapists (OT and SLP) will take the lead when working with students with severe and complex needs in elementary grades (typically grades 1 to 5, *see chart below for exceptions).
Complex Communication and Mobility Consultants (CCMC) are available to provide support, knowledge, and consultation to Core therapists when there is a need for consultation beyond what the Core therapist is able to provide. Types of support may include:
- consultation with the core therapist.
- joint visit with the core therapist(s).
- individual visit including follow-up consultation with core therapist(s).
CCM Consultants may be more directly involved with school staff as there are no Core PT services; the CCMC PT will provide more direct services when there is a referral for severe mobility needs and equipment.
* For the purposes of school-based services within the CA RCSD partnership, the terms below will focus on specific grades as outlined. The most common exceptions are noted – other configurations should be discussed on a case by case basis.
*This website is a record of a constantly evolving partnership. It is as accurate as possible at any given time and will be regularly updated to reflect changing processes and information. However, be advised that there may possibly be a lag updating the website with the most current information and processes.
