Rehabilitation Services

Children’s Rehabilitation Services (CRS) is a multidisciplinary program (a department within Alberta Health Services) that includes Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Language Pathology, as well as other health professionals.  Services are available for infants, preschoolers, and school aged children with delays or disorders.

Within the CA RCSD, Children’s Rehabilitation Services provides many of the rehabilitation services available in schools.

Types of Support

  1. Core services are the primary level of rehabilitation service for all students needing additional support. The CA RCSD model incorporates levels of service that align with the Response to Intervention-RTI model (Education), and the Rehabilitation Conceptual Framework (Health). When considering how to best support the needs of teachers, students, and their families, a variety of Universal, Targeted, and Individualized service options are available. Therapists provide consultation for teachers, if required, to support universal strategies in the class and work alongside school staff and/or families for targeted and individualized services.
  2. Services for children with complex communication needs or with mobility needs may be supported by the Complex Communication and Mobility Consultants (CCMC).

Note:  Please see individual tabs for further information.

The Central Alberta Regional Collaborative Service Delivery (CA RCSD) is an approach to providing services for children and youth in the central Alberta region. It is a regional partnership among school authorities, Alberta Health Services, Children’s Services, Community and Social Services, and other community stakeholders. The services are delivered by the partners.

Please Note:
Services may vary according to staffing structure in a school or community.
